Shahani date is another type of date fruit that is generally cultivated in Jahrom (Fars province). Shahani date is one of the semi-dry dates and its moisture content is about 15%. Like Rabi dates, it has an elongated appearance and a narrow end and is light brown in color. Some types are also found in yellow or dark brown. Shahani dates are consumed unripe, ripe and dry and are one of the most consumed dates in Iran.
